Tolls, permits, driver allowance and timing — what to clarify before a long journey so there are no surprises.
Outstation trips are longer and involve more variables than local rides. A few questions before booking can save confusion on the road.
One-way or round trip?
One-way fares often include the cost of the car returning empty. If you will come back within a day or two, a round trip with the same car can work out better.
What is included in the fare?
Ask whether the quote includes tolls, parking, state entry permits and the driver allowance for night stays. These are normal charges — the key is knowing about them in advance.
Minimum daily distance
Many per-kilometre fares have a minimum daily distance. If you plan to stay in one place for a day, ask how that day will be charged.
Departure time
For airports and hill stations, leaving early avoids traffic and afternoon mountain congestion. Share flight times so the operator can plan a safe buffer.
Breaks and meals
On long routes, plan stops every two to three hours. It keeps passengers comfortable and the driver alert.
